Maryland Governor Larry Hogankicked off his administration with a strong message of economic development.
"Starting today let me say loudly and clearly: Maryland is open for business," Governor Hogan said during hisinaugural address Wednesday in Annapolis.
He mentioned multipleState resourcesthat are helping to grow the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators, including aneducated workforce, world-class universities and colleges, community colleges and public schools. Maryland also benefits from itsstrategic location and infrastructure, including the Chesapeake Bay and the Port of Baltimore, he said.
"We must leverage these amazing assets to transform Maryland into a place where businesses can flourish and create more jobs and opportunities for our citizens," he said.
Governor Hogan shared his optimism for the State's continued growth.
"Let's create a Maryland that is thriving, growing, innovating, and is responsive to the needs of all its citizens. Let's strive to make Maryland the best place in America to work, raise a family, start a business, and even to retire," he said.
"What I envision for Maryland is not just an economic and fiscal recovery, but a rebirth of our spirit, and a renewed commitment to our common purpose," he added.
