A global satellite communication company is investing $100 million into a new research and development center in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Intellian, a provider of satellite user terminals and communications solutions, discussed the project at the grand opening of its Advanced Development Center—the company’s first and only R&D center in the country.

As the need for satellite technology increases, so has Intellian’s role in the industry. The company anticipates growing its workforce to more than 70 employees with the investment in Rockville, while boosting innovation and economic growth throughout the region.

Establishing our Advanced Development Center in Montgomery County, Maryland is a key strategic decision for us. The ADC is ideally situated in the heart of ‘Satellite Valley’, with many of our key satellite network partners close by.

– Eric Sung, Intellian CEO and President

This opening follows a recent announcement from Governor Wes Moore, which stated that nearly $92 million will be used to expand broadband internet access for more than 14,000 households and businesses in Maryland.
