Maryland Commerce recently announced the renewal designation of the Regional Institution Strategic Enterprise Zone, or RISE Zone surrounding the Montgomery College Germantown Campus. The RISE Zone designation aims to stimulate economic development and job creation by allowing qualified businesses within the specified zones to benefit from rental assistance and incentivized tax credits. The renewal of the Montgomery College Germantown Campus RISE Zone applies to areas surrounding the campus, as well as the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology (PIC MC), located within the Montgomery College Germantown Campus. The Montgomery College Germantown Campus originally received designation as a RISE Zone in September 2018. The renewal will allow Montgomery College to build upon current projects like new and expanded programs, partnerships, and scholarships. Through the renewed designation, Montgomery College, Montgomery County and PIC MC will be able to remain competitive, attract and retain jobs, and stimulate investment in the region.
