Phillips is bringing food manufacturing back to Maryland for the first time in seven years.
The family-owned company, known for its locally-famous Phillips Seafood Restaurants, is expanding its Halethorpe facility with an additional 15,000 square feet of space and 15 new jobs. The company celebrated the expansion with a ribbon cutting during Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Schulz’s visit to Baltimore County this week.
The new space will allow the company to begin manufacturing soup and look into producing additional grocery products including its frozen crab pretzels and calamari.
“The opening of our new facility will enhance our research and development for innovative new products and launch those products more quickly into the retail and foodservice markets,” said CEO Stephen B. Phillips.
Founded in Hoopers Island, the century-old company has grown from a small seafood packing plant on the Chesapeake Bay to a global food manufacturer focused on quality, safety, and sustainability over the years.
