A local woman-owned defense manufacturer has purchased the former Battelle Eastern Science and Technology Center in Aberdeen.

Lufburrow & Company, also known as LufCo, will open a new R&D and manufacturing operation at the facility, where it will focus its advanced manufacturing on microelectronics.

The company, which specializes in mission-critical systems engineering and strategic innovation to give the warfighter a decisive edge, plans to create 120 new jobs in Harford County.

“LufCo’s mission is to empower warfighters with actionable technologies and tools required to dominate the evolving battlespace,” said LufCo Chief Executive Officer Heather Couvillon Lufburrow. “LufCo is proud to partner with the State of Maryland and Harford County to continue our investment in developing a next generation advanced manufacturing capability to achieve this mission.”
