Teaching Strategies, a leading developer of early childhood education curriculum and assessment resources, is relocating from Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda and expanding its headquarters to a new location on East-West Highway, also in Bethesda.

The growing company plans to create nearly 50 jobs, with hiring already under way. Teaching Strategies currently has around 100 Maryland-based employees, and the relocation is expected to take place in December 2015.

"Our company has always been proud of our home base in Maryland. This relocation and expansion will allow us to continue to provide the highest-quality support and resources for early childhood educators, both within Maryland and across the country,"said Kai-le Berke, CEO of Teaching Strategies.

Teaching Strategies is the leading provider of high-quality resources for early childhood education, including curriculum and assessment products that support educators in reaching more than two million children across the country. The company, founded more than 25 years ago by early childhood educator and advocate Diane Trister Dodge, developed The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, a comprehensive and research-proven curriculum solution that is used extensively in Head Start, public and private preschool programs across the country.

To assist the company with the relocation and expansion, the Maryland Department of Commerce has approved a $300,000 conditional loan through its Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF). Earlier this year, Montgomery County also funded a $150,000 grant convertible to a loan to the company.

"For more than 25 years, Teaching Strategies has been developing cutting-edge products to educate the leaders of tomorrow," said Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. "We are proud to have this pioneering company grow and add jobs in Maryland."
