Leonardo DRS and its Signal Solutions Center of Excellence  has moved to Frederick County.

This new facility is home to the company’s Airborne & Intelligence Systems division, which engineers and manufactures a variety of high-performance signal products including data recording systems, radio frequency (RF) tuners and receivers, and more. Leonardo DRS recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to announce its expansion and relocation from Germantown.

The move provides the company with approximately 85,000 square-feet of space at Progress Labs at Center 85 , a five-building development by Matan Companies. The Maryland Department of Commerce assisted with the relocation to Frederick to help retain Leonardo DRS and its 150 full-time employees in the state. The company may also be eligible for assistance such as the Partnership for Workforce Quality program.

“This new facility for Airborne Intelligence Systems will allow us to continue to build best-in-class RF capability for our customers and continue our support to the warfighter,” said Larry Ezell, senior vice president and general manager of the Leonardo DRS Airborne and Intelligence Systems business. “This region has been our long-time home, and we are proud to be a part of the Frederick community. This new state-of-the-art facility represents an investment in, and our commitment to our employees, this community, and our customers.”
