More than five dozen child care facilities have received funding through the state’s Child Care Capital Support Revolving Loan Fund. A total of $11.5 million has been awarded to help providers with ongoing capital expenses, including purchasing or building a new facility, or renovating or expanding an existing site.
The program, administered by the Maryland Department of Commerce and Maryland State Department of Education, offers no-interest loans for capital expenses to child care providers who are licensed and participate in the state’s Child Care Scholarship Program.
“Over the past few years, we have seen a need, particularly in our rural and underserved areas, for child care providers to expand their capacity and we are hopeful this fund will help to alleviate those challenges,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson.
