In case you missed it, DBED Secretary Mike Gill recently sat down for an interview with Baltimore Sun reporter Natalie Sherman.

The Baltimore-born and raised businessman discussed visiting each of Maryland's jurisdictions, a goal on the top of his "to-do" list this summer. Secretary Gill also described why his new DBED role reminds him of his first job – a sales position at technology corporation IBM.

"When I walk into the governor's office the governor says to me, 'What did we sell today? Did we get any new business?'" said Gill. "I feel like it's my manager at IBM wanting to know if I'm going to make my quota for the month which isn't a bad thing."

The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development Secretary also recapped recent State projects, including the new FBI headquarters, Harbor Point, and the expansion of Under Armour.

"I think when all's said and done it will be the eighth wonder of the world because Kevin Plank does things that are the eighth wonder of the world," said Gill.

"With a strong, vibrant, productive economy for the state if you can achieve that, then everything gets better and you have the ability to invest in all the other things that make a state great."
