Italian biotechnology research company Vetagro is opening a new facility in Maryland.
The company recently celebrated the Talbot County groundbreaking for its first U.S. production and distribution hub, which will support its growth to markets outside of Europe. With this North American expansion, Vetagro plans to advance the science of animal nutrition worldwide.
Over the past few years, Vetagro worked closely with the Maryland Department of Commerce to identify available industrial sites and contractors that would support its U.S. production facility. By locating in Easton in one of Maryland’s Enterprise Zones, Vetagro is eligible for real property and state income tax credits in return for job creation and investments.
“Easton offered more than logistical advantages. We discovered here a collaborative business climate, proximity to research centers and government agencies, and a welcoming community. Those qualities convinced us this was the right place to grow.”

Vetagro also credited the Maryland move to the state’s strategic location, direct access to the Port of Baltimore and several airports, and its proximity to the U.S. livestock industry. The company is the first business to break ground in the Mistletoe Hall Commerce-Business Park.
“I am thrilled to welcome Vetagro to Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore and its thriving business community,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. “Their dedication to research, innovation, and biotechnology engineering makes them a perfect fit for Maryland. We are proud to have them join our state’s diverse and innovative economy.”
“Vetagro’s decision to invest here is a big win for our community, and we’re excited about a company that shares our values of innovation, hard work, and commitment to quality,” said Talbot County Council President Chuck Callahan. “We look forward to a strong partnership as Vetagro grows here in Easton.”
