A new impact report shows that the Maryland Manufacturing (M4) Grant Program is playing a central role in the state’s booming manufacturing industry.

Designed to help small and mid-sized manufacturers modernize operations, the M4 program has awarded nearly $7 million to 91 manufacturers, helping generate more than $17 million in investment. During the FY25 grant cycle alone, the state program issued $5 million to 43 manufacturers, with a special focus on supporting Maryland’s smaller manufacturing operations. Companies with three to 49 employees have received more than 70 percent of all program funding.

The program feedback speaks for itself—testimonials provided by grant recipients include:

  • “The Maryland Manufacturing 4.0 Grant has had a significant impact on our business… without this support, acquiring these specialized tools would have been a major challenge,” said Intuitive Machines in Anne Arundel County.
  • “This will have a huge impact on our business…it gave us the confidence to proceed with the project and accelerated our completion timeline by 1-2 years,” said Fluoron in Cecil County.
  • “We cannot overstate how dramatic the improvement has been as a result of this grant and the installation of the subject equipment,” said Manor Hill Farm in Howard County.

Launched in 2023 and supported by legislation that ensures at least $1 million in annual funding through FY2028, the initiative has become a catalyst for innovation, productivity, and long-term competitiveness across the state.
