Dr. Anne Le, CEO of the Baltimore-based business Gigantest Inc., is aiming to make an innovative product the gold standard in the healthcare industry.
Gigantest is looking to be the first company to offer customers access to their full health profile. By using metabolomics technology, the company’s new product can assist with weight loss, athletic training, disease detection and monitoring, and more.
While routine blood tests can test the basic metabolic and lipid panels, the HealthieOne Complete Test from Gigantest includes more than 200 comprehensive results for a complete review of a person’s health. From insights on muscle health and energy levels to cell and tissue regeneration and neurological factors, Gigantest provides a detailed recap of what is occurring inside a patient’s body.
“Metabolomics, or the field of study used to analyze metabolic processes in a biological system, has burgeoned over the past decade,” said Dr. Le, who believes recent advances in medical technology have yielded opportunities that have yet to be fully explored. “The technological advancements that we bring to market will create a novel class of health testing to provide more in-depth and actionable results than currently available options.”
As a pioneer in the field of metabolomics, Dr. Le earned her PhD in Europe before working at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where her team had several discoveries in the metabolism of cancer and other diseases. She founded Gigantest in 2022 and quickly obtained her business license in Maryland, as well as a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certification, granted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
Since launching three years ago, Dr. Le and the Gigantest team have helped major institutions explore metabolomic technologies, including Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland Medical Center, National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health, Mayo Clinic, Tulane University, and more.
After having achieved its goal of delivering its next-level metabolomic technologies to several institutions, Gigantest is delivering its technologies directly to consumers through the HealthieOne Test. Once the patient sends their blood samples to the Gigantest laboratory, all results will be rigorously reviewed by CLIA-board certified doctors and the company’s own trained physicians.
“This revolution in health testing will dramatically impact public health issues by empowering everyone to take their health into their own hands,” said Dr. Le. “The implications for public health as a whole are tremendous.”
With such a thorough overview of an individual’s metabolic processes, the HealthieOne Test could help consumers identify early biological changes in their body long before clinical changes begin.
For example, one of the functions examined by the HealthieOne Test is cell and tissue health, which could help identify if an individual’s cells are multiplying, and potentially lead to early cancer detection. If the metabolomics are monitored for months at a time, patients can determine if their numbers are increasing or decreasing, and work to make informed decisions about their health.
“This information should not be confined… It’s modern preventative healthcare and it’s just common sense. Why wouldn’t we serve the general public?” said Dr. Le. “If you can translate research into a real-life product and help people at the same time, it’s more rewarding than anything.”
