Following a recent economic development trip overseas, two foreign businesses have announced plans to establish operations in the state of Maryland.

German company Data-Warehouse GmbH is locating at the Quantum Startup Foundry in College Park, which is a Maryland Global Gateway Soft Landing location that provides foreign companies with an affordable way to explore the U.S. market. The company, which provides cryptographic inventory management, is working on contracts with the National Institute of Standards & Technology and MITRE.

London-based Safetech Innovations will locate in Maryland later this year, and has been working with the Maryland Department of Commerce to “soft land” in the state for the past four months. The cybersecurity company is currently located at Plexal, a coworking space in the U.K. that is a partner in the Maryland Soft Landing Exchange program.

“I am very excited to return home with two international companies added to Maryland’s burgeoning business community,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. “With their focus on new security innovations and techniques, Safetech and Data-Warehouse are the perfect additions to our state’s thriving technology sector.”

As part of the state’s overseas mission, Maryland Commerce also led a delegation of eight Maryland businesses to InfoSec, the largest cybersecurity gathering in the country.
