Marylanders are in good company at RSA 2015, the nation's premier information security conference, held this weekinSan Francisco.
The conference is expected to draw more than 20,000 attendees, including dozens of representatives ofMaryland-based cybersecurity companies, federal agency officials and higher education.TheMaryland Department of Business and Economic Development's (DBED) cyber development team is also hard at work at RSA promoting the State's vibrant cybersecurity community.
Several members of this community will be showcased as speakers and panelists duringRSAevents.Kicking off the conference today,Gregg Smith, CEO of the Baltimore-based anti-malware companyOptio Labs,spokeduring DBED'sCyber Investment Breakfast.
Alsoparticipating inRSA events are four representatives from Baltimore-basedZeroFOX,which protects organizations against threats on social media. They include founder and CEOJames Foster, chief operating officerEvan Blair, senior security research analystKenneth GeersandJohns Hopkins University professorAvi Rubin, Ph.D.,who serves on the Board of Advisors.
College Park-basedSecurityDo, will be showcased asone of ten finalists in RSA's prestigiousInnovation Sandboxcompetition, which has a history of spotlighting Maryland companies.Sourcefire, which was acquired by Cisco in 2013, won the first-ever competition in 2005,Light Point Securityfinished second in 2013 andRedOwl Analyticswon the 2014 competition.
