Nearly two dozen manufacturing companies have received assistance to modernize operations in Maryland.

The support, provided by the Maryland Manufacturing 4.0 grant program, helps small and mid-sized businesses invest in 4.0 technologies. The governor’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2027 includes $2 million for the program.

The latest round of grant funding was awarded to 22 businesses in 10 different jurisdictions, supporting more than 1,100 jobs in Maryland. Approved projects include installing automated batching and robotic tray systems at Michele’s Granola to streamline granola production, and, purchasing a high-performance AI computing system at Intralytix, Inc. to enable real-time bioprocess optimization and scaling of phage production.

A recent report shows that the innovative grant program is playing a central role in the state’s booming manufacturing industry. During fiscal year 2025, the program issued $5 million to 43 manufacturers, with companies of three to 49 employees receiving more than 70 percent of all funding.
